Staff Selection Commission (SSC), an Indian Government organization, has the power and authority to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. SSC is the combined office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). It consists of a Chairman, two Members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations.

This organization is assigned with job of carrying out recruitment for Group B and Group C non-gazetted posts (both technical and non-technical) for Central Government Departments as well as various autonomous organizations. The examinations conducted by SSC are:

  1. CGL (Combined Graduate Level)

CGL is the most well-liked exam conducted by SSC. Every year, it is conducted to recruit candidates in various non-technical posts of Group B and Group C in central government. Junior Engineer Examination is conducted by SSC to recruit candidates in technical cadres of Group B. This recruitment drive is done for engineers in Central Water Commission, Department of Posts, Central Public Works Department, Military Engineering Services etc.

  1. Stenographer (Grade C and Grade D)

SSC conducts Stenographer (Grade C and Grade D) exam for recruiting stenographer for various central government offices as well as attached subordinate offices. The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with stenography skills to appear in this exam.

  1. SI in Delhi Police, CAPF and ASI in CISF

SSC conducts this competitive exam to recruit personnel for various police organizations of the country such as Delhi Police, Central Armed Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Border Security Force (BSF), ITBP etc.

  1. Constable (GD) Examination

Constable (GD) Examination is an open competitive exam conducted by SSC to recruit constables in forces like BSF, ITBP, Assam Rifles, CRPF, SSB, NIA etc. To qualify for this exam, the candidate has to clear physical efficiency and eligibility test.   1. Junior Hindi Translator in Subordinate Offices / Ministry of Defence / Central Hindi Training Institute

Every year, this open competitive exam is conducted by SSC to recruit translators in various organizations of the government. The appearing candidate has to be either a graduate or post graduate with proficiency in Hindi or English.
